K-1 Weekly April 15-19, 2013

I will continue studying in class and discussing the letters of the alphabet. It is very important that the students leave kindergarten knowing to identify each letter. This will make it easier in First Grade to learn to read. FEel free to practice them at home. That is the pupose of the show and tells with the alphabet letters. Kids seem to learn and remember the letters and they learn new words apart form the ones I teach them in class. I will be using during this and next online books for the alphabet letters that I found in www.wegivebooks.org.
I will also use stories and lots of games. In class the students practice daily the prayer and songs. They have a love of fun with the role playing monkey song and with the "merengue"version of the "You are my sunshine" song.

*Parents:
There has been a noticeable increase in the student's tardiness to class. Late and early to class students lose their focus and concentration whenever someone comes at the door late and starts getting ready for the day. Let's see what we can do to get here earlier. It's for the student's own good. I know that at their age they LOVE to waste time walking around, looking at the mirror, having breakfast, bathroom time, etc. It's what most do and they blame parents. It is actually funny to listen to their tardiness stories but they have to learn to be responsible and to be on time.

Thank You!

Value of the Month: DIGNITY

To think about...

DIGNITY:
bearing, conduct, or speech indicative of self-respect or appreciation of the formality or gravity of an occasion or situation. Nobility or elevation of character; worthiness.

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Galatians 3:28

When we deal with each other, we should do so with the sense of awe that arises in the presence of something holy and sacred. For that is what human beings are: we
are created in the image of God (Gn 1:27).” -Economic Justice for All, #28

Wherefore, whatever the progress in technology and economic life, there can be neither justice nor peace in the world, so long as people fail to realize how great is their dignity; for they have been created by God and are God’s children.
Mother and Teacher, #215
